Thrive Gong Sound Bath

Sound Healing

Memorial Park - behind The Pilot

Service Description

A rare experience - an outdoor Gong Bath. Heidi Gowthorpe's sound sessions are very special. It's the first time she's bringing her sound scape to the Peninsula. A gong bath is a form of sound healing meditation growing in popularity as a modern healing technique. It is referred to as a bath due to participants being immersed in the vibrations of the instruments during a session. No knowledge or experience is required and it can be viewed as a form of meditation accessible to everyone, rather than a chore or another item on your to-do list. Gongs have been used as shamanic healing tools, celebratory instruments and a method of communication for thousands of years, and are undoubtedly part of the tradition that is sound healing, which uses techniques such as gongs, drums and Tibetan bowls to name few. Participants lay down comfortably under a blanket and the gong session is often preceded by breathing exercises or mantra chanting to relax and prepare you for the experience. The gongs are then gradually introduced and the vibrations of the gongs are absorbed throughout the entire body, which can help shift stagnant energies. NOT SUITABLE FOR: those with pacemakers, heart issues, tinnitus, in first trimester of pregnancy or those with epilepsy. Important: Due to the number of no shows over the past couple of Thrive's and a waitlist that would have more than filled spaces, we are no longer able to offer these sessions for free. A £10 fee is charged for all sound sessions and workshops. Fees will be donated to Mum's Aid. Bring a mat, blanket and pillow - you will be laying down for the duration.
